MDS2106 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 (edited) i have seen a few shees running around without packing in the silencer,is there any benifit to it besides changing the sound of the bike? i figured it would run shitty without the proper packing Mark- Edited July 6, 2005 by MDS2106 Quote
reded Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 It may not run shitty but it won't run as good as if it were properly packed. Without it they sound loud and stupid. Quote

80overShee Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 They run better when packed properly. I've repacked mine twice already since summer began but I think I am doing it incorrectly. I believe I read somewhere that they should be repacked every 20-30 hours of riding time. Lets face it, its a Banshee, you rebuild more than that. Quote
Fireman-hott Posted July 9, 2005 Report Posted July 9, 2005 actually its every 10-20 hours. I definately dont rebuild more than that, hell I had well over a 100 hours on my last cylinders before the cubs. Packing is nothing more than fiberglass fire resistant..... House Insulation. Quote

Fireman-hott Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 Maybe a re-ring every 30 hours, but I'dgo with after your riding season. If you dont ride year round than sometime during the offseason it would be a good idea to break it down and put new rings on the pistons. Quote
ROCKETMAN29 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 when my bikes get weak i put pig putty on the pistons then sand off the extras like an autobody shop does and a rubber band in the ring groove, hey it works! Quote
