crbanshee Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 im sure this topic has been posted a million times but here it is again..im building a 2004 shee i have pipes and throttle put on already (fmf fatty ans motion pro twist) but here is the deal im going to be using this banshee for racing baja type races and for fun in the sand dunes.so i want to get the best of both worlds out of it,i want to be able to go from the dunes and take the paddles off put on the knobbies and race the hard desert terrain .now here is the kicker i have almost $20,000 set aside to do this..what i am looking for is some input..what would you do to a banshee for this purpose if you were building it? keeping the reliability of the bike is a must though..she is a 1 kick wounder right now and i dont want that to change..it must be 1 kick 1 start.ok hq members help me build a killer banshee..this bike is going to enter baja 1000 in the next 2 years Quote
iceman Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 (edited) 20k!!!! build a drag bike. geezus. Id do suspension and porting for starters. but thats not close to 20k. get some bigger carbs or a 2into1. ignition. get your flywheel lightened. if youre racing desert a bigger gas tank. and an aluminum radiator. get some bigger brakes. a hydraulic clutch. I dunno about the swingarm because for racing youd want it shortened but since its desert racing and the dunes probably lengthened? im not real sure. maybe plus 2? get some armor. like skid plates and bumpers. longer steering stem. Im sure theres more to do. I cant remember everything. I also personally wouldnt go with the fmfs. they are great pipes but youd probably do better with a set of rockets. I think someone on here sells them.... Edited June 23, 2005 by iceman Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 ELKA SUSPENSION and extensive motor mods. Quote
decon Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Man I would do the f'kin works with 20 grand!: midrange/mx port, nosshead, v-force 2 reeds, pro flow k&n filter, 33pwk carbs, LONG TRAVEL WITH ELKAS ALL AROUND!, new clutch , 5gallon IMS tank, ricky stator lights, -1 swinger, oversized radiator, steel braided brake lines all around, anti vibe steering stem, and a nice desert seat. postal Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 $20,000......................................................you dont need to ask, just get the best of everything. but for pipes, i'd get rockets or toomey t-5's. Quote

crbanshee Posted June 24, 2005 Author Report Posted June 24, 2005 ok let me re fraise here a bit...i have 20 g's in the account with no plans for it exept to save.but im at the point where if it takes it all to build a reliable banshee monster i will do it. i dont drag at all its not my thing but i live to dune ride and im realy liking the racing thing right now. decon Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 i wouldnt waste a whole 20 grand on a banshee, it should only take you around a good 2-4 grand to build a nice duner Quote
racer Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 drag's outta the question since you dont do it. but maybe a loboII desert chassis with 250r geometry would be "OK" for a motor, maybe a small stroker or some cubs. no reason to build a huge ass unreliable motor for the desert. or if youve got lots and lots of time, look for a dean sundahl banshee. dont know if 20 large will cover the ticket though. but man, those are insane. unlike anything else. RNBRAD Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I would emmulate this bike the best you can. I don't think you could build a better proven combination than this. That should take care of your 20k. PDV Banshee Quote
