I kno my head gasket went out and we bought one and this morning me and my dad went out and took off my head plate and almost all my bolts were lose. The guy who put my pistons in said he torqued them. i kno ther is alot of vibration in ther, But yea anyways what do i torque them 2??? Quote
jmoore Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 20 lbs torque them in order in three stages example: 7 lbs, 14 lbs, then 20 lbs Quote
broke Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 He's right, and there is also an order to do them in. I am almost sure it's stamped on the top of the head, but I would have to check. Quote
94yambanshee Posted May 7, 2005 Author Report Posted May 7, 2005 alright thanks, and do they need any type of thread lock with all the vibration so they dont vibrate loose because i think thats what mine did Quote
. Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I've pulled my head off quite a few times and torqued them back in increments of 10, 15, then the final 20, and have never had a nut come loose. no locktite.....they should not come loose. Almost guaranteed that dude didnt torque them right. Did he torque your cylinder nuts too? I'd be rechecking them as well if he did. YOu wont be able to get to 2 of the nuts, so torque the other nuts and get a feel for how much pressure it takes, and then torque the other 2 by hand. Quote
94yambanshee Posted May 7, 2005 Author Report Posted May 7, 2005 Alright Thanks Alot Ill Do that Quote
Bansheeman1121 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 You gotta re torque them at least twice during break in, same thing happnd to me notcied a bit of coolent leaking out of my coolhead and cheach the head bolts to find 5 of them that u could twist off with your hand, not good torqued em back down and will check again in another week.
