REV-I-DOO Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Newbie here in need of some help............... I picked up a '99 shee and the small coolant hose that goes from the head to the top of the radiator has been cut and blocked off. Any reason for this? Why would the previous owner do this? Do I need to replace the hose and hook it back up? Thanks. Quote
Oilsmoke Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 It's my understanding that this Line is a Steam vent . Propose is to remove air bubbles in the Head to Cool it better. With an Air bubble in the head you Loose the water contact to the interior walls which reduces thermal heat tranfer. Fix it Soon . Quote

racer Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 actually the hose isnt a steam vent. you shouldnt have steam, but if you do thats that the over flow bottle is for. that line is a vent, but its to release air trapped in the head. with out it youd have an air bubble on top of the head that couldnt be removed with out vacuum bleaind of the coolant system. so yes replace it. its a piece of straight hose that goes into the top of the radiator.
