jmoore Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I am looking for some weekend warriors to hook up with once in a while. I would like to hook up with an older group being that i'm 33. I also want to get up to the atv park up in the iron range some time. If anyone wouldn't mind a tag along, let me know.... john Quote
nosbanshee4u Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I'm not old, 20 but do live by you. I live in FL and was also thinking of going up there, I think it would be an absolute blast (gilbert, right?). I have no ride up there though (had to sell the truck gas was killing me) Anyways if you would like to ride somewhere that would be fun, I am a pretty easygoing guy. Anyways get back to me if youd like to, I also have a few buddies who are in their late 30's who I sometimes ride with (if you don't mind a couple yfz's hah) mike Quote
zilladude Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 I am in the south metro (Rosemount), I am also in my 30's. I have heard that unless you have a 4x4 quad, the gilbert area isn't much fun. We are going to LS in may & I am going to try to go to St Anthony's in Aug or Sept. Quote

And I have no idea where the hell St Anthony's is. Do you get out much around here in the meantime? Quote
SHEe DEVIL Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Me and Red ore are up in northern MN, but in the summer we dont ride much at all. Well we havnt ridden in a long time due to racing. When we went and observed the gilbert park they were only letting pretty much 4x4's in and were pretty strict about not letting louder machines in. There was a couple trail boss's they wouldnt let in cause they were to loud. So if you want to try it, good luck. Jen Quote
zilladude Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Sand dunes. LS or Little Sahara in Waynoka, OK & St Athony's in Idaho. Quote
PhilMoore Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Sand dunes. LS or Little Sahara in Waynoka, OK & St Athony's in Idaho. 358189[/snapback] Little Sahara, Oklahoma is by Waynoka. You should be able to make it there from the twin cities in a long day of driving. I am from Grand Rapids, so it takes us about a day and a half. It is a very nice dune riding area, but a little small (about 1200 acres) . It is different because there are trees in the dunes, so it makes it pretty fun. St. Anthony is in Idaho. It is just past Yellowstone, by Rexburg, Idaho. It is a huge place and it will take days to explore it all. We have stayed at the Sand Hills Resort, and the Desert Oasis campground. Desert Oasis is a little closer to the huge dunes, so I prefer it. When I say huge dunes, I mean HUGE dunes. They are some of the biggest, and definately some of the steepest I have been on. Both places are about the same distance, but Idaho is just awesome. If you go, put filter skins and paddles on... The nazi's have pretty much shut us down for riding up here. Calumet used to be an awesome riding spot, but I heard they have been ticketing people. I haven't been out there for a year. I haven't been to Gilbert yet. There are thousands of trails between Grand Rapids and Hibbing, but with all the citiots buying land and posting it, we can't go anywhere anymore. I heard Aitkin county is trying to build a riding area similar to Gilbert's. Hopefully they won't build it in a peat bog... Quote
SHEe DEVIL Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Calumet they shut down cause I guess someone got hurt or killed something like that. And they are now starting to take the dirt from our big hill "the tit" and using it for the new highway. The washplant Im not sure if that place is still around. I wanna head over there sometime soon though and check it out. Quote
