I have an ohm meter, but what is a clymers?

355772[/snapback]

aka Banshee owners bible, maintinance manual; one of the best investments you'll ever make.

New intake boots would correct the problem if in fact their cracked leaking, if the durn thing would start you could spray some carb cleaner around there & if it revs, there's your problem. Since you can't do that you may try pulling them off & going over them very good looking for any signs of cracks. Have you checked to make sure that it is even getting a good spark now?

It's getting spark, but I don't know if it's good or not. I have what seems like a very detailed owners manual, that details everything from engine rebuilding etc... Will that work? I have checked each boot and the are def. not cracked at all. I have suspected electrical for a while, I will make an attempt to check everything, although I have been told by dealers before that there is no effective way of testing a cdi box, so I will test what I can.

Here is the specs;

Stator resistance:

Ignition coil should be 13.7-20.5 Ohms (red to green wire)

Pickup coil should be 94-140 Ohms (white/red to white/green wire)

Lighting coil should be 0.26-0.38 Ohms (black to yellow wire)

make damn sure the choke in between the carbs is on (it's the little rubber line that runs between the stock carbs).....also check your coil and your pickup coil gap by the flywheel....If it's too far apart it won't run

ok dude, change the fuel, clean out the fuel petcock. take the crabs apart and poke a wire form a twisty tie through the pilots and make sure nothing is in the mains...

Sounds to me as if you got a piece of sand in there. Could be something slipped throught he fuel filter your probably not running, or through the diry K&N you probably had on there.

peace.

If thats not it do a leak down test....!

how are you jetting this thing, if it is really fat it coudl also cause a misfire but probably not a backfire...

and yes im drunk

I htink if it was the CDI you would have different problems... fuck man change the jets while your in there if you tink it needes em...13 years you should know this shit!

I'm asking for help. I have done everything you've talked about. I haven't owned a banshee before and frankly with this hassle probably never will. One cylinder is just easier to deal with. The only thing I haven't done is a leak down test. However, I have broken everything down and retightened everything. I've been through the carbs thoroughly. I've taken both carbs off and removed all the jets and made sure all of them could be seen through. I then have gone back through to make sure everything is on as tight as it can be. I am looking for help from people with experience with banshees. Can you work on and get a corvette running and modified to go faster? I can and it's unreasonable for me to assume that you can, regardless of your mechanical background, so please don't insult me.

If it wont start with gas in the plug holes then sounds to me like eletrical issue, maybe weak spark or somthing of that nature.. Did you clean the bottom end up good and check the seals O yeah and as mentoined above THE CHOKE TUBE that goes beetween the carbs, if your used to single cyls you may have very well forgotton about this important piece of rubber, it connects both carbs goes in beetween them theres a spot for it right in the middle of both carbs

If you read the thread you would see I replaced the choke tube. Thanks Anyway. :D

Did an ignition check, stator came back fine, I'm about 99.9% sure it's the coil as I'm getting NO READINGS from it. I cut the wire back to expose the plug wire and still nothing, so I'm going down to chaparral today to test one of their new coils and I'm pretty sure I'll have the problem fixed. Guess this was probably one of those 1 in a 1,000,000 coincidences. Thanks for all the help and input I appreciate it.

I had the same exact problems except my shee started most of the time, just couldn't ride it the way she was breaking up. After both compression testing and all of electrical components and ruling them out I found out that I needed new carbs. I got rejetted to what I had and she is running beautiful. So if the coil checks out fine you might wanna check and see if the carbs are any good the dude said something about the needle and seat in the floats...I think
