Ok, my shee has ran good most of this winter, I tried this new gas, and messed with the air screw a bit cause it was warmer, well it started missing in the topend. So I jetted up, and got a different gas, and some new plugs(B8ES). Now it will idle for a bit, but when you rev is misses real bad, wont reach the powerband or nothing. Its terrible. I have 340 mains in it right now, and 30 pilots. I'm starting to think its something with the electrical, not positive. Its impossible to do a plug check although I did let it run for about 5 min, revving periodically, I pulled the plug and it was spotless, a dab of oil on each bridge of the plug. Also, its spitting hella oil out of the pipes. Any ideas please, please, please post!

Should be in 'jetting and exhaust' with this one, but anyway. .....

We need to know what you've changed from and to:

Old gas? _____ to new gas? ______

Old plugs? _____ to new plugs B8ES

Old jetting? _____ to new jetting 340/30

How many turns out were you before on the slow running mixture screw? And now?

What mixture ratio are you on?

Your mods in your profile say 110 gas and 17cc domes. .... Any port work done?

What altitude are you at?

Rare.

with high compression could this new fuel be causing detonation at high revs?

any small flecks of shit on your plugs? how much jetting change did you do and what sizes

Old gas? 110 Clark Leader to new gas? 108 Klotz Race Fuel

Old plugs? B9ES to new plugs B8ES

Old jetting? 330/30 to new jetting 340/30

*How many turns out were you before on the slow running mixture screw? And now?

Before I was 1/2 turn out, now I've tried everything from 1/2 - 11/2 out.

*What mixture ratio are you on?

40:1

I got 18cc, I'm @ 500ft, no port work, its not detenation, I'm thinking something with the stator. Maybe crank seal- althrough I just replaced both crank seals!? I also adjusted the floats in the carbs, so the line is level with the base of the carb... I had it a little low, I haven't tried since then because I'm going to clean out the carbs real good.

Also, it had this problem with the old jetting & old plugs. So I would count that out. Plugs are almost like they are brand new still, even though it ran for 5 min or so.

What were your B9ES plugs like when you pulled them?

On the old setup you say it ran well most of winter and now you say ...

Sorry for the confusion, this problem developed with the old setup, it started getting doggy in the powerband, thats when I started changing things. My B9's were really wet and dark. My current plugs were spotless, not even burned, but there was some liquid oil/gas on the bridge when I took them out, looked fresh out of the gas tank. Its also smoking terrible when its running.

I would try going back to your original mains and see what happens now that you have your new NGK 8's. ... If the 9's were fouled up, that could have been causing your problems to start in the first place.

My 8's were fine, but with a race port job, skimmed and worked head (std), I thought moving to 9's (B9EG) would work fine. .... I'm fouling up and after a bit of research have found that I'd have had to add in excess of 40 hp to warrant changing to 9's. .... Back to 8's again before my next ride. I'm going to try the EIX's.

Was there anything of interest behind the stator cover?

Anyone else got any ideas??

TORS unplugged ? If not your obviously rich if its not electrical. Filters dirty? That could cause a rich condition. Check your electrical components with the directions in your Clymers. or switch out parts with another shee to rule that out.

Ok, I've been thinking for hours, and taken the carbs off close to three times now. Changed all kinds of jets etc.. took the stator cover off, cleaned that all up. Now I was in the shower thinking what stupid things could be wrong that I have not thought of, then it hit me. Could the plug wires being crossed cause a condition like this? I checked compression after changing jets, and took both wires off... I have it in pieces or I would try myself, but If I put it all back together and have to take it apart again, I will :shootself:

yea, I cut out most of the TORS, including my killswitch. :( I got it all because it ran afterwards. Coil connection is good, compression is good. Starts and idles, it does rev up, but its off key, missfires, pops, no power if you ride it, hits powerband and sounds terrible. Supposed to go riding tomorrow and I have no clue what is going on. There is so much shit comming out of the pipes its dripping out and running down the silencers. Maybe its just that rich? But why would it change all of the sudden?

br8eix iridiums do make a difference ,they are crisp and foul resistant too

What is the stuff like that is coming out of the silencers?Thick?

One of my buddies had a crank seal leak and he said some thick junk came out of his pipes, but you said you where runnig tranny fluid so maybe you could smell the diffrence between that and oil.
