okay guys,

I had the shift star mod done, and my bike all put back together, and now its leaking oil outta the left side of the engine case, where the bar that connects the shifter to the shift star is. How can i fix this and what do i need.

Also, when im riding and i go to shift from 2nd to third it will grind gears and get stuck in neutral (just revvs). Could this be a bent shift fork or what?

Im more concerned about the first problem so please let me know whats up

By bar do you mean the shift shaft? If so you can replace the seal around it in about 5 minutes.

its the bar that runs from the back of the shift lever through the engine case. I figured it was a bad seal.. Where can i get one, and how can i replace it? Thanks for the reply

Brian060 Try going to a Yamaha dealer site like www.ronnies.com. Go down to OME parts, yamaha, atv, then year, and banshee. Scroll down to shift shaft and that number 7 is the seal I think you need. Look around those exsploded views of the motor. It will get you familure with the banshee engine. Also the price is there so you can not be shocked when you go to buy stuff. There are several other Yamaha dealer sites just go use one you like. I am just used to this one

the seal is easy to replace. gotta take the stator cover off and shifter and pegs and such off. then tipt the bike on its side so do oil leaks out when you pull the seal. screw a drywall screw into the seal alittle and pull it out. slip the new seal of the shift shaft and tap in in flush with the case with a long socket.

the missing shifts could be a few things. did it only start doing this after the shift star mod? i bet the grabber that grabs the star is out of adjustment or maybe loose. make sure the hooks are equadistant from the pins on the star.
