It will only start in neutral now. Does the clutch sensor need to be shorted? What is the best way ?

I'm sure I could figure it out , but I'm stuck at work for the next 6 hours with little to do.

The wires that went to the sensor in the original clutch perch will need to be connected. Keep in mind when you do this that it will now crank without the clutch being pulled in. I would cut and splice the wires together on the sensor side of the wiring harness and then just plug it in. This way, if you ever wanted to put an original lever back on, all you would have to do is buy a new perch that had the sensor entact.
