Compression

What should the compression be on my Banshee? I have a cool head with 20cc domes and no other motor work.

I don't know the elevation where you are checking it but I would say around 150 to 160.

I am at about 1000ft.? Is it true that at 180 you need to have your crank welded? Doesn't 150 or 160 seem a little high for me to have nothing but a cool head?

I was wondering what mine should be. I live about 4,500 (yea clear up here in Idaho) and my mods are in my sig. Any reply would be appreciated.

Welding is a good idea above 180. At 1000', maybe 145 to 155 with 20cc domes.

Well I just checked it and I have about 90psi in both cylinders. I am sending the cylinders off to Eric Gorr to have a woods port job done. I am going to rebuild the motor before I put it back together. Do you think that will fix my problem? If not what should I do? What should my compression be when I am all said and done?

Are there rings on the pistons??? Just kidding. That is really low. I'd be suspicious of the compression tester if it was done correctly. I'm surprised it will kick start with the compression that low.

 

With a fresh top end when you get it back it will improve. Ask Gorr what to expect with 20cc domes and his porting.....something over 140.
