fixitrod Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 All you have to do is change your gearing to compensate for the speed. A new front sprocket will make that up. Bad thing about 18's is ground clearance. That's about it. Good thing about 18's is weight. Your suspension should work a little better with the 18's too. It's about one tooth per tire size so if you want to keep close to the same gearing that you have now, go up to teeth bigger in the front. If you have a 13 tooth in the front go 15 with the 18 inch tires. Quote

I just got rid of my 18" Holeshots for some 22" Sur traks and couldn't be more happy. That gives you another 2" of space between your rear sprocket and ground. That can be the difference between walking or riding back to the truck. It also means I don't have to change my gearing everytime I throw on the 22" paddles. Quote

Your cornering will beneifit and will have less tire roll in the corners..If you have no clearance issues and don't drag that much, then go for it..The 22's will hook better, but are worse in the corners...What's more important to you?? I have Fatty's and V-force reeds, and my 18's spin up to 3rd on the STREET. Quote
