I really like my cannon A-70, only 3 Mega Pixels though but that is plenty for a 8x10 picture. It has a nice quality view window which will let you see if you took a decent picture. The new version is called and A-75 or something. Don't get suckered in by a high Mega Pixel camera unless you need the super fine resolution or big picture size. Optical Zoom is a lot beter than digital zoom. Just some of my extremely ammatur opinions.

yeah i heard the same thing about the optical zoom, and the camera i was looking at is only a 4.1 mega pixle. i mainly want one for taking pictures while riding, and stuff like that so i want a decently small camera that will take good pictures.

They have newer versions out now but when I bought mine I went to about 5 camera stores and they all recommended it for the pictures I needed to take (school in Europe) basically vacation pictures. I really like it very durable and I had warranty for a year(Ritz Camera) that the guy said if I drop it and it breaks just a little that I should run it over with my truck so that he could just give me a new one instead of sending it in to get fixed. I dropped it a few times but never broke anything.

i've used many many dig cameras and am very happy with my Minolta Dimage Xt. Its one of the pocket ones. Only 3 megapix but that's enough for a pocket camera. i take more pics with that than anything because it is so portable and easy to move around. They have newer versions out now but... very happy w/ mine!

like the others have said.. to heck with digital zoom. optical zoom is the only way to go. also, when shopping for them, a fast cycle time (time between pics) is a nice thing to have too.

definately look into the OLYMPUS cameras. They make several models that are ALL WEATHER, and they are fairly small in size, and fit easily into a pocket. They're very good cameras.

I use kodak 6340, and it takes great pictures, but if I knew then what I know now, I would have gotten the olympus.

I just got a Canon 20D SLR. I'd been wanting a digital SLR for a while and finally bit the bullet. My Dimage 7Hi wasn't quick enough to consistently get action shots. I'll find out this weekend how the 20D does.

I have a Fuji Finepix 2650. (I love it) Out of the store, it ran me 200 bucks, but on ebay you can find them for A LOT cheaper....It's only 2.1 megapixels but the picture quality is great. Also, one really important thing to keep in mind when buying a digital camera, is the fact the higher megapixel camera's will only be as good as the lens will allow. Meaning, you can get a 5 megapixel camera and still have a crappy picture if the lens isn't worth a shit. And on the flip side, you can have a low megapixel camera with a great lens and have excellent pictures.
