Nightrider Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 (edited) Congratulations President Bush, the first president since his father to carry a pure majority of the popular vote. I think thats more important than that electoral bullshit.I have always believed in popular vote.It was a close race,at least it wasn't a blowout,I was surprised Kerry did that well with Electoral votes. Congradulations George W. even though I didn't vote for you. Again it came down to OHIO,I was glad to see that many people showed up at the polls this year. With the huge turnout for Kerry, maybe Bush will look into Ohios gripes.Unfortunately our Governer wasn't running for re-election.We'll see if Bush "leans" on TAFT to help put our state back together. He probaby won't,I guess I'll just shit in my hand. PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Nightrider, I agree with you to an extent on importance of the popular vote but there is a reason why we have and electoral college. That being if it was solely on a popular vote the candidates would only need to worry about Texas, California, New York and Illinois. The electoral votes keep places like Iowa, Alaska, New Mexico, South Dakota and states like that important. Ohio is probably in that mix itself even though it is fairly populated in comparison. Quote
Nightrider Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 True, but the popular vote shows who the majority of the people want as there president and we all know majority rules. The fact that you can win the popular vote and still lose an election never made sense and never will.Just my opinion Quote

jinx44 Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Oh and also in regards to the electoral college--it was set up because our forefathers thought we weren't intellegent enough to vote. After listening to some peoples reasons against BUSH, and watching some idiots trying to figure out how to fill in a little circle on the ballot yesterday, I am starting to think the fore fathers were right.
