r2n2d Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 On my 2003 shee I have sst fmf pipes and sil. Boost bottle, K&N air filter, no snorkle on airbox, carbs are stock but jetted for what I have, everything else engine wise is stock. Should I put the coolheads on or is it just for the look at this point? The coolheads I have come with the 22cc domes. Do I have to get new o-rings or can I use the old ones that are still in excellent cond. are there any gaskets to buy? can I use my stock studs? AND what tools will I need? do the nut have to be so many lbs.? all I know is how to take them off. lol Quote
banshdog Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 They are not just for looks. They cool more efectively, and add compression and torque. I put a Noss head on my 03, it uses the stock studs, easy to put on. i went with 20cc domes. O-rings are reuseable, 20 lbs. on the nuts. there is plenty of info on this site and all over the web, specifically for your question. Quote
dlnoss Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 (edited) Here is a copy and paste of instructions that come with the Noss Head. The main difference is that the studs do have to be replaced with the Pro Design head. ______________________________________________________________ 1. Remove fuel tank and associated plastic. 2. Drain coolant. Remove plugs in sides of cylinders to be sure coolant is drained low enough so as not to run into cylinders when head is removed. 3. Remove hoses from stock head. 4. Remove nuts from head studs. 5. Remove stock head. 6. Place rags down in cylinders to prevent dirt and hardware from falling down into cylinder. 7. Clean top of cylinders using a razor blade, scotchbrite, or fine sandpaper. 8. Using grease to hold them in place, install the orings into the domes and into the grooves of the head that go against the cylinders. 9. Remove the rags from the cylinders then lay the domes down on cylinders making sure the notches are positioned towards the front of the cylinder. 10.
