kcraptor Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 I just purchased a 03 Ltd. banshee it has DMC pipes the ones that come together under the tail light.I do all of my riding at the dunes, I am going to see how well I like these pipes before I run out and buy something different. My question for you guys is should I buy an adapter plate and K&N and keep the stock airbox or should I buy the pod filters? Also if you run outerwares do you have to worry about riding when it is wet out or raining(out on the dunes).I also have a raptor and I was thinking of getting rid of the airbox but don't want to have to worry about sucking up water or moisture. DO NOT get rid of the airbox if your worried about water getting into the filters. I've seen more than one motor lock up because they were riding with clamp-ons when it was raining out or the ground had sitting water. Just get the adapter plate with a K&N and an outerware and your set. Take the lid off for more air and then you'll be running strong. Get the adapter plate from Noss Machine, Dave is a great guy and will give you a discount for being a BHQ member. Remember, keep the airbox and you won't have to worry about moisture EVER. Toomey Banshee Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 I have a shee with each, air box and one with dual K & N pods. The one with the air box I run the foam filter with the pro design plate. Its harder to jet because of the air box but I feel safe around the water. I think the ideal set up, although I dont have it, is the Toomey 2 into 1. You can remove the filter assembly easily for jetting and it sits so as water probably wont bother it. Also it depends on what carbs you're running, stock carbs stick with the air box or Toomey, bigger carbs I think you almost have to go with pods. Quote
01bansheeke Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 where you from kcraptor? I run the pods..i like em a lot. But don't roll without the outerwears on em and definintely don't get em wet. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 If your worried about water keep the air box, either way you go get an outerwear. . Quote
kcraptor Posted October 29, 2004 Author Report Posted October 29, 2004 I am from kansas city,I really don't ride up here just Oklahoma & I really don't ride alot during wet conditions, I will just try the K&N and adapter plate for right now thanks for the info. Quote
01bansheeke Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 kc mo or kck...i am from paola. We need to hook up and ride sometime...i rarely ride anywhere but the sand. Once you ride there, you really don't want to ride anywhere else. Quote
01bansheeke Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 i have a set of toomeys around in case you decide to get something better than those dmc's for the dunes. chrome with polished stingers. I may even be interested in those dmc's...i want to build an all around bike after i finish my blue one. Quote
Cannon Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 I run dual K&N pods w/ outerwears - almost all sand riding on my Banshee. Never had a problem but I don't go looking for one either by getting them wet. Quote
