2004LEBanshee Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 I've noticed that my shee lately is a lil boggier at low RPM. It doesn't bog when I hit the gas but it seems a lil slower getting to the power band in cirten situations. Once in the band it flys. It starts 1st kick and Idles great. It seemed to be like this since I got the v's in june ( I think). I dont know if it is in my head or what. But I've noticed that It just doesnt' wanna pull from the low rpms like I thought it used to. I thought it seemed like a rich condition but it is getting cooler and nothing different. I plan on trying the middle clip possition again but I have nowhere to test ride the bike so I have to wait till I go riding again ( hopefully next week) Any help appreciated. Currently 330's, stock piolit, Needle 4th clip poss, Quote
sredish Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 (edited) Might need to richen the pilot or something. It could have to do with the temps starting to drop, that'll lean your machine out a little, and the temps are only gonna get colder. What about your compression, checked it lately? You got your jets listed, but we don't know any of your mods. Just a few thoughts. Edited September 29, 2004 by sredish Quote
Banchetta Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Mods are in his sig.....I'd try adjusting the needles richer. Move them to the 5 th clip from the blunt end...hesitation before powerband is a lean condition. If it was rich, the it would break up....also make sure your carbs are in sync. That'll help w/ throttle response. Like sredish suggested, check your compression. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 (edited) Thanks I been meaning to check my comp but my friend still has my dam guage. I hope after 1 year I dont need a new top end. If so I'll be really pissed. Edited September 29, 2004 by 2004LEBanshee Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 (edited) You got your jets listed, but we don't know any of your mods. Just checked plugs and the first few threads and top of the ceramic are black. The threads also have crusty build up. ALso the sides for the electrode that comes out of the ceramic look like they have lil bubbles or specks of black carbon. If that helps? Edited September 29, 2004 by 2004LEBanshee Quote
Nightrider Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 (edited) With the exception of a foam filter and rad valves,my set-up is exactly like yours.I can't run anything less than a 30 pilot.I'm running 310 main 30 pilot needle in stock location and lightly modded airbox. Try bumping your pilot or playing with the screws a bit.Temps and elevation should be close to you. Edited September 29, 2004 by Nightrider Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 (edited) I was under the impression that a lean piolet would show signs of starting problem or maybe a bad idle. Is this not true? With the 30 where about are your air screws? Edited September 29, 2004 by 2004LEBanshee Quote
Nightrider Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 (edited) I'm about 1.5 or 1 3/4 turns out and with a K&N I would have needed a 32.5,I didn't have it so I just switched to a dual stage foam which I had lying around.I have a little more comp than you do (185psi)I don't know if that makes a difference or not,I would think it should not. My my 01' is basically the same as yours with PC pipes,V-force,+4,milled head and pro flow foam.I needed a 310 main 27.5 pilot,2nd clip from top and 1.5 turns out on the screws.Neither machines ran good with 25 pilots. 2004LEBanshee Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 Thanks, I'll try a 30 this weekend if I can get one. I will also try to get my comp guage back too. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted September 30, 2004 Author Report Posted September 30, 2004 Just did a comp test and it was 135 on both. So I guess I need to work on my jetting. Quote
Banchetta Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Have you tried a new set of plugs? Even though they are not fouled, they'll still cause a slight hesitation. Enough to notice. I change my plugs every 6 months to a year and notice the snappiness. Also make sure your filter is clean... Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted October 1, 2004 Author Report Posted October 1, 2004 I clean my filter every ride and I change plugs every couple rides. I'll try the 5th notch on the needle. But it might be in my head Quote
Banchetta Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 I clean my filter every ride and I change plugs every couple rides. I'll try the 5th notch on the needle. But it might be in my head Fmf pipes are very sensitive to needle positions and have great gains w/ them. Definately try it, also adjust your air screws...1/2 -1 turn can make a difference, especially w/ elevation and temp change. Quote
