2004LEBanshee Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 (edited) I am confused as to what carb uses more gas. I have a friend with a rappy and it has like 28mm carbs and around 180 jets ( I think). Mine are 26mm but use 330. If we all use the same style main jet am I useing more gas? If so what is the purpose of a bigger carb, can't you just get bigger jets? Edited July 7, 2004 by 2004LEBanshee Quote
cdw Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Bigger carbs do give you more gas yes. But its the higher volume of air that also goes into your motor with that extra gas which results to a bigger combustion or explosion in your cylinders, therefore more power. Quote
ngelati Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 I think you are runnig a Mikuni carb and your friend is using a Keihin one... Main jet numbers are in a different scale.... Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted July 7, 2004 Author Report Posted July 7, 2004 Let me rephrase this. I have a banshee with stock carbs he has a raptor with stock carbs. The raptor has bigger carbs then the banshee but my bansshee runs way bigger main jets then the raptor. They are both minuki carbs. I believe a 200 in one is the same as a 200 in the other. So why have a bigger mm carb when you could just run bigger jets? Quote
ssbanshee Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 bigger carbs = more air bigger jets = more fuel Quote
Oilsmoke Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 this is a good question. I read that a 2 cycle needs more fuel to air ratio than a 4 cycle engine does. I know it's not what you are looking for in a answer. But i though i would add this. Quote
