It's Lawnmower Racing. Call it redneck. Call it hillbilly. Call it what you want, but this is damn fun. (actually, my wife has more colorfull words to describe it) I thought I would share my latest hobby with you folks. This is by far the cheapest hobby I have ever had if you don't count the beers consumed after the races. . Here is a link to our web page.

The mowers are built to U.S.L.M.R.A. rules and we currently have about 10 mowers total and growing.

on the manual tranny you can change the gears around and make it an overdrive. saw a kid do it to a cub kudit(spelling). that damn thing went like 30 mph and was a bitch to keep it straight no wheel base went thru a bunch of ditchs before wrecking it.

was funny as hell

We just change a couple of pulleys here and there. We have been running on a fairly small track so they are geared to top out around 35-40 mph. They are stock 11 and 12 hp briggs engines with the governer bypassed. I'm turning mine right at 5300 rpm. :whoa: We don't actually mow with these anymore, although I do have a big yard....

Looks like fun,...where the hell's Plainville at. Heck, I got an old mower...16hp briggs I believe is in it oo. Wonder how far of a drive it'd be for me to maybe come & watch a time or two, then build one myself. haha This could be fun! :D

I got me a 23 horse Deere.. And an 18 horse Wheelie horse that has no deck, or anything with it. I could roll with the Horsey. It's hydro though., What can be done with that? I'll have to look into it..... 40 MPH on a lawnmower...... :headbang: I'd be cuttin lawn for shits and giggles on a daily basis......

Plainville is 23 miles north of Hays or about 120 miles north west of Salina. 16 hp huh, that would put you in the class above me. You gotta try it, who would have thought that you could powerslide a mower through a corner.

Is a bit of a hike, I'll have to hit you up the next time I go to Hays to party & see if there's any racing going on.

There is a schedule on the web page. I'm sure one of us would let you take a couple of laps on one if you ever make it up here.

Sorry Boon, no hydro's allowed. Although, I'm sure you could find a way to spin the pump faster, rev the engine harder, ........

That's awsome! I seen them a few times on TV. When I was a kid, I had dozens of lawn tractors that I modified. Some of them were pretty fast. I rode them all over the place, like transportation, lol. I just wish I knew about lawn tractor racing back when I was 9.
