THOR1 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Alright Ive decided to throw away the key switch! Ive searched and seen that most everybody hooks up there tethered kill swich to the key switch wires. Just to make sure I do splice the red and black wires to the kill switch? I believe I saw in a past topic someone said it didnt matter which wires i connected? Ive finally cleaned up my shee - got rid of the tors, parking brake, and hopefully the key switch! Get rid of these damn wires! Quote
willow2679 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Yes do it already is easy Im figuring out how to get rid of the lights-run-off swith in the handlebars to make the lights work when I put it on the bike Quote
BenBB Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 No, you need to splice the two wires going to the key switch together to get it to run, then wire your tether kill switch to the black and white wires for the handlebar kill switch. The key switch works by grounding the red/black wire to black, so when it's "on" the circuit is complete, when it's "off" the circuit is open. This is opposite of the handlebar kill switch, and how tether kill switches work; when you turn them "off" (or pull the tether), the circuit is complete-white connects to ground and it kills the motor. So don't connect the tether to the key switch wires or else it'll only run when the tether is pulled out... Quote
