fta_dave Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Ive done it now, out for a ride on the weekend, the bike felt weak. almost got back to my house and BANG! I pulled the head off to check the piston, or lack there of, and noticed my right side rod bearing on the big end is MISSING. The crank on either side of the rod is blue and the case is filled with metal .The cylinders are 5o over now, can they be bored again? Any ideas as to how this happened? Quote
BenBB Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 You can take the cylinders out to 0.100" over, so unless they are really bad you can (hopefully) just go 0.060" over. Not sure why your crank bearing let go, but sounds like it damn sure did. Gonna need a new crank, good excuse for a ported stroker, heh. Good luck. Quote
ledofthezep Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Sounds like ya got your hands full. I'd like to see some pics of the carnage myself. Good luck, shee will appreciate the rebuild. Quote
boonman Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 I had the same thing happen to my crank. Lower rod bearing went. (the big end). It was due to my dumb ass not takning the crank out to clean it after I blew a hole through the piston. I didn't clean the crank as good as I could have had I split the cases. my guess is it could have come from a lack of oil, debris, or just good ol' bearing failure. Either way, you need to gt it tore down, and sent out to someone for porting and a stroker crank. Might as well do it now, so you don't kick yourself later for buying a stock stroke crank and not going for a stroker. Quote
