Abubido Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 hi riders, my wifes 1998 banshee has some tranny or clutch issues. the gears seem to be stuck between 3rd and 4th. I cannot change gears at all with the shifter. The clutch also seems to be engaged? . I drained the fluids and did not notice any major metal shavings etc. I have not pulled the clutch for inspection. Do I need to split the cases ? or are there serveral other things to check for before going that route. Thanks all for the great site Take nothing but pictures Kill nothing but time Leave nothing but banshee tracks!! Jerry Bond Quote
ledofthezep Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Don't split the cases quite yet... See this post: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...pic=25103&st=0& Should be in this section of the forum anyhow...but that oughta help ya out. jeffro189 Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 bansheemine did the same thing a while ago, and it was the shift linkage that was broke. pull off the clitch cover and look at where it shifts on the shifter star. the litte hook things that grab the pegs could have spun on you. it should be on the outside of them, not in the inside. hope pic will help Quote
knight_ripper Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 ok...my '97 shee locked up in the middle of a race...I had to finish with just 3rd gear....lol My shift star was simply out of adjustment. Take off the case and see if you can shift it....do a little star adjustment to see if it takes....then see if you can shift again. It took me about 2 hours and I was done. Took longer to take her apart than it did to fix it. Good luck.... Quote
