HASTY Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 unscrewed plug caps from leads and gave them condinuity test and had no beeping ,still getting spark is this good or should i replace them ?? Quote
boonman Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Not sure about the resistance of the caps. I do know that they are fairly cheap. I bought NGK loaded caps from the stealer, I think they were about $5 a piece. Quote
fixitrod Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Spark plug wires are made with resistance. They will not dead short. In an auto class I took one time, it was about 1000ohms per foot. That was about 10yrs ago though. But, I'm pretty sure they will not dead short. Quote
boonman Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 You are correct on that Rod. I just assembled my Accel wires for my S-10, and that was the spec. Pretty much any spark plug wire is that. Unless it is some special business. Quote
banshee boy 98 Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 the caps should have 5k ohms of resistence Quote
geaux 4 it Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 Get knew one or put another type of boot on.I prefer one with no resistance. Quote
svtkid78 Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 it is a standard to have between 5k-10k ohms of resistane in a cap don't reccomend having none. Quote
geaux 4 it Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 I don't rember how much it supose to have, but it does have a resistor in the cap.I have seen them go open and not fire. Quote
DIRTBIKEZ Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Like banshee boy 98 said, the caps should have 5000 ohms of resistance. Quote
