BansheeBrian Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 My left dome is smooth and looks new. The right appears darker and if you look close you can see small dings all over the inside of it but it doesnt make contact with anything. What is that from? My right exhaust port also has the same characteristic. It looks like the casting bumps are larger and deeper than the left. What does it mean when something is pitted? Quote
spoin39 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 I'd say detenation, You are probably not using enough octane, try better gas by using higher octane. Quote
fixitrod Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Sounds like you had a ring snag and break or some metal make it into the chamber. If you look into the exhaust port, do you see both ring intact? What made you take it apart. Oh, and yes, the dome is pitted. Quote
boonman Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Something got hammered. Maybe a bearing? Maybe a ring? Maybe an eskimo? Quote
Justintoxicated Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Something got hammered. Maybe a bearing? Maybe a ring? Maybe an eskimo? if it was detonation woulden't that be happeneing, more than likely, in both cylinders? Quote
