acracing55 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 How much does it usuall cost to get the fram powder coated? Quote
NYUK Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 200 to 300 depending on if you get a multiple step coat.sometimes less. Quote
Lanky Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 what about getting the frame chromed? Quote
NYUK Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 chroming can be done, but it s expensive and every hole on the frame gotta be welded up solid, every bird shit yamaha weld has to be ground down and made sure there is no leaks.the inside of the frame is real dirty ,rusty even, contaminates the platers nickel tank.there is also a thing called hydrogen embrittlement. chrome makes parts weaker. Cotton eyed Joe Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 The first time I had a frame coated, it was a yellow to purple fade with a layer of clear. With some parts covered in the flash chrome covered in translucent blue and clear the total bill was around $350. Best powder coat job I have ever seen. Looked like glass, and it never marred or chipped. The one I just got was $150. Total shit job. It nicks very easily, and is thick and thin in some spots. I got a quote right after from a guy that would burn off the old powder, and recoat for $135. If it was just a sand blast and powder it was $105. I've seen his work and its perfect. Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 i payed 125 bucks for lulipop red over silver vain came out so good i was quated 250 bucks for a chrome frame Quote
evil Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 damn dude, 250 bucks for chrome ??? last couple places i called wanted from 1000 to 1400 to do up a frame. Quote
NYUK Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 theres a lot of polishing small spots to get a frame to come up nice,it would take more than 250 in prep work.lots of labor involved. Quote
raxen Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 I called a few local shops around me and here are some prices that I got. Banshee frame chromed runs 700-1000 locally. A "good" powdercoating (no post-bake runs, nice high gloss shine) or any of that junk runs 500 locally. Both of the prices that I have got includes prep work on the frame. Quote
