Harry Balzonya Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 (edited) You read that wrong. I think he wants a package with 3 in the front. Edit: exactly what he said up there. Exactly, I have a set of stage 2+r's that are what a stage 3 should be (pre, low, and rebound). So far the new 4 rear is junk compared to my old OEM. Now I'm appreciating even more how well it handled. Edited July 17, 2015 by Harry Balzonya Quote
RagunCajun Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 Damn I just wasted $1000 on elks stage 3's this week. Come on now.. Quote
Harry Balzonya Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 So spend $1400 on front shocks, then another $300 on rebuild the rear. Only $1700 on shocks. Or the average joe could speed $1000 on Stage 3 steels, sell his OEM shocks for $100-$200 and have spent $800-900. The average joe isn't going to spent $1700 on shocks for a banshee. I paid 899 for my true stage 3's in 2012 and 275 for my rear for a grand total of 1175. Considering prices have gone down at Elka, I'm sure you could build this kit for the same if not less now since they are just trying to get rid of old parts. It's a reasonable option if you want tuning synergy front and rear. Quote
Harry Balzonya Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 The most annoying thing is they've been a bunch of jerk offs to try and deal with on this. Tried to tell me the other day that it's because I'm running a +4 and I should change to either a +2 or +6. Funny how an "inferior product" handled everything I threw at on the same +4 setup. Anything is going to be an upgrade vs OEM fronts but this rear situation has me wondering if I drank the wrong kool Aid from the start. Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 All I know is that I run my Fox Podium on a +8 and a +14 and it works very well on both. It has a ton of adjustability. I run Floats on all my bikes. Quote
Dmaxguy Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 customer service is something you should also take into consideration. I have not had the best of luck with fox. Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 The people at Fox are dumb as fuck. Quote
Dmaxguy Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 The people at Fox are dumb as fuck. They dont back up their product like they should. It would make me scared to drop $1500 on shocks. Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 I have four sets of their shocks. I've never had an issue. Quote
n2otoofast4u Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 I've been screwing with these ding dongs since I got them in early May. Rather arrogant bunch I might add. Now it's mid July and they have finally agreed to send an RMA and evaluate them. But of course they won't be able to look at them for at least 4 weeks. My main point in these threads I responded to was to inform others about the performance and value you can get out of a correctly rebuilt OEM. If my big ass can jump 70'+ on an OEM, the average Joe could get a pretty good setup for under $300.Did you buy these on the YGR sale thingy? Quote
Harry Balzonya Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 Did you buy these on the YGR sale thingy? If you're referring to the 799/999 stage 3/4 promo, yes. Quote
n2otoofast4u Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 Sure hearing of quite a few of these sale shocks with problems. Quote
Harry Balzonya Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 I love how fox posts CHEAP rebuild prices but when ya go and inquire they will say its the lowest price IF nothing needs to be changed for the most part... ya send in some basic floats and they charge ya almost the same cost they worth new to rebuild LOL and you wont find out until ya receive the bill... too stupid to tell you other wise too even looking at them. Unless your still racing competitively there really is no advantages to running highly adjustable shocks... most riders wouldnt even notice a difference comparing stage 3's to the 4's let alone the 4's to the 5's..... If your complaining about shocks why havent you bothered getting the stage 5's? Tylers Podium and evols are equivalent to elkas stage 5 or elite package.... where you have the high and low speep rebounds and all of the rest of the nic nacs I would disagree to some extent. The 3 to 4 gap is way bigger than the 4-5. Not having front rebound is a huge limiting factor IMO. I don't think there are many riders that could justify needing a 5 over a 4. And if you can, you're probably already sponsored by a suspension company. In the end when this thing comes back I hope it kicks ass. Thinking it should blow away my rebuilt stocker isn't an unreasonable expectation I don't think. Shock was selling for 1400 a couple years ago and people were gladly paying that. Just because it was significantly discounted should have nothing to do with the performance. Quote
Harry Balzonya Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 Sure hearing of quite a few of these sale shocks with problems. Yep. You can't tell me QC didn't suffer a little trying to get all these orders out the door. 1 Quote
RagunCajun Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 Since I don't jump, is lack of rebound adjustment that important? Quote
