Nasty banshee Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Was told 6in would be better than 8in+ swingarm if running wheelie bar. Was told I would get tire spin with the +8 I'm a heavy rider with a pretty strong engine..some who has experience with this shed some light on this please Quote
BANSHEEBEEFM2M Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 If your gonna run a bar all the time do a +4 Quote
Nasty banshee Posted February 22, 2015 Author Report Posted February 22, 2015 Rather not run a bar at all but I do want to launch hard as possible with minimum wheel stand..would +8 keep the front wheels down enough to make a good pass or is running a bar the way to go Quote
BANSHEEBEEFM2M Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Itd be easier to tell you if we knew what your motor and tire setup and gearing was Quote
Nightmare Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Current tire size how much do you weigh? Many factors come into play. Oh yeah, and gearing? Quote

Nasty banshee Posted February 22, 2015 Author Report Posted February 22, 2015 Yes its ported..its getting more port work when I do the lockup clutch and 2-5 override Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Yes its ported..its getting more port work when I do the lockup clutch and 2-5 override Hmmm....A 2-5 for 1/8 mile asphalt? Not the right trans. Quote
Nasty banshee Posted February 22, 2015 Author Report Posted February 22, 2015 That's what my builder recommended..running on asphalt and at concrete 1/8mile track.. Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 That's what my builder recommended..running on asphalt and at concrete 1/8mile track.. We have been running asphalt since 2004 with around 1,000 runs. Most builder's don't know shit about asphalt. I don't know who your builder is & don't care. He's wrong for telling you to run a 2-5 & I would hate to here what else he's telling you. Do a search of my threads, Tedder's & sleeper06. That should give you a good start on what's needed for asphalt. 2 Quote
Nasty banshee Posted February 22, 2015 Author Report Posted February 22, 2015 Ok I'll check it out..thanks for the input Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 The most forgiving trans out there is the 1-4 manual 5/6. That's what we use 99% of the time. We only put in the 1-6 when running heads up & some times we don't even do that. The shift forks need to be changed way too often. 1 Quote
