joey83 Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Getting my junk ready for this weekend and my bike is dicking with me. It will NOT go in neutral with engine idling and sitting still. It does ok when Im rolling but its tough to hit. Its fine with engine killed. Shift star adjustment? Quote
joey83 Posted September 14, 2013 Author Report Posted September 14, 2013 Willba shift star mod also help with this?If Im tearing in there Im gonna do it anyways. Quote
Finch Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 helps with shifting more then anything. escentric screw adjustment makes it hard to find neutral too. Quote
J-Madd Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Sounds like the cable is too loose. Quote
joey83 Posted September 16, 2013 Author Report Posted September 16, 2013 I wondered about the clutch not disengaging J*madd but I can be in gear with clutch only half pulled in and it will sit and idle without trying to move or pulling the engine down. Going to break in to it tomorrow and smooth out the shift start and adjust it. Thanks guys-- Quote
Surfrjag Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 could be grooves in the clutch basket clutch adjustment at handle or internally type of oil in tranny type of clutch stretched clutch cable mis balanced clutch springs defaced clutch fibers warped clutch plates probobly more... my banshee has modes.. go and stop. when its time to go i needs to be in gears when its time to stop i turn it off. neutral is easy to find when its off. 1 Quote

jbooker82 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 I usually rev it up then catch neutral as the rpms are coming down. Seems to be much easier than letting it idle. Quote
mike0chek Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 Yeah, what he said, I gave up trying to find neutral when its running a long time ago. yup lol Quote
salmon_slayer06 Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 I would check the adjusting screw, clutch basket for grooves, and put a fresh clutch in along with new cable and do the star mod. Be carefull though, most do it wrong. Do not grind all of them. The neutral will be the notched point. Leave the point before this and after this alone. Round the others. Maybe someone can explain what I mean better. Quote
