New to Banshee's

Recommended Posts

Hey, i'm new to banshees, just bought a 2001, its in rough condition.  Motor is leaking oil at shifter and breaks have no compression.  Was wondering if anyone has any suggestion on what are the first steps in to making this thing show quality.  Looking to do the work myself.  I am mechanically inclined.  Any suggestions would be awesome

Put a new seal on shifter shaft. Buy a complete brake set up from somebody parting out a banshee in for sale section. Ride it this summer. Tear it down this winter and do whatever you want with it.

There are a few guys that part out bikes. Check for sale section or hit up NYUK on here. Good luck-

If your leaking oil from the shifter that means you have a seal gone bad in the bottom cases also if you have oil near the pump that's a bottom seal as well. Get yourself a good clymer manual and I personally would do a tear down and fix it right before something bad goes wrong. I just built my first banshee ever and I did it from the ground up the engine total time it took me about 8 hours to break down and rebuild the complete engine. I'm a huge fan of doing things the right way from the ground up.

Mine was rough when I got it also. Ended up tearing it down to the frame and powder coating it. Been working on this thing for a year and a half (with other projects going on at same time). Be prepared to spend some money to make it "show quality". over 6 grand in mine so far and it's still not done.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you have the time to build it right and patient you can find some really good deals on this site or ebay. I got a lot of my stuff cheaper then retail.

Check out my frame off
