Well like they say " dont fix whats not broken" this ones biting me in the a**.

I have a 1997 yamaha banshee with vforce 3 reeds, boost bottle, K+n airfilter, and jetted carb.

Im suppose to be going riding monday but if i cant get my bike to run there go those plans. I decided to do a little maintence because i was bored. I cleaned the air filter and took off the carbs off the bike to clean the entrance of the carbs where the boot connects. I did not take any jets apart or adujst them all i did was spray down carbs to clean them. I put the bike back together took a few kicks to start would not stay running unless i stayed on the gas also only 1 cylinder would smoke also when on the gas. I shut off bike losen the tors caps and she starts right up and both cylinders are smoking which is good to me she revs nice and stays running no problem. im guessing the tors cap were too tight causing some type of problem but i am not worried about that because she runs now. I let her idle for 15 mins idles fine no problem then it starts to rev up a little by its self and dies out swapped the plugs starts right up idles fine revs nice. I go for a test ride it rides nice has low end power but its just not simply hitting powerband i dont know what the problem could be all i did was take carbs off spray them down cleaned airfilter and put bike back together. The bike ran like a champ before i took carbs off any help in the right direction would greatly be appreciated.

after test riding for 15 mins and making some passes i check the plugs and one plug is darker than the other.

 Also pull the bowls off of both carbs, remove and clean pilot and main jets, reinstall jets, and set float height. Also check the carb boots over really well, boost bottles are known to crack the boots and cause an air leak.

@zillafreak: yes the white plug is after the test pass

@hoppedupandcutdown: pretty sure i have the correct slides in the corect caps. i will check for air leaks again pretty sure there are none. and i will let it idle for that long any more.

@noonansar: i will do/check that thanks.

Choke tube?

If you had them upside down and were spraying them with shit its very possible some debris that was in the bowl sump got stirred up and is now plugging a jet.

@zillafreak: thats the last thing i wanted to hear lol where can i get a air leak tester and i will swap wires and and clean carbs.

@n20toofast4u: choke tube is on and that is quite possible about the dirt clogging something.

Make one, its easy. i know theres a write up on here. Just some pvc, some caps for the pvc(with glue of course), a complete shrader valve assembly... and a psi gauge, some expansion plugs... easy peasy. i use silicone as well

Ok so took off carbs sprayed them down again put back together unplugged parking brake running better but now I have a sticky float.

What are the cons of sticky float besides gas pouring out?

I unplugged the tors it did notin besides make the quad not idle.

could hydrolock the motor take the bowls of the carb and clean the needle and seat stuff you should of ddone when ya had them off the first time. some times ya can just smack the bowl with handle of screwdriver and it will get unstuck
