chads300 Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 ok so i went and picked up a 96 banshee and just got it back to the house....the story was the guy was running it and it started to run on one cylinder then it up and locked up. been setting ever since(wich was in 2011) has basic mods such as fmf exhaust nerfs reeds . 30 over ect. i felt the kick starter and it was in fact locked so i put it in sixth gear and gently pushed it and boom. rolled over and kicker is unlocked....is this a top end issue or rod bearing? chads300 Posted April 2, 2013 Author Report Posted April 2, 2013 ok...wouldnt i have to yank the cylinders to? Quote
CodyRosa Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Possibly.. more than likely yes. Very easy. I did it in like 10 minutes for my first time. No need to pop the motor out. Just take the head of and go from there.. your only going to see the tops of pistons. Quote
Finch Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 you could see alot of damage just removing the head first but if its seized prolly have to do a full tear down might as well check out the crank too Quote
sandbum80 Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 X2 get yourself a good manual, regardless you are going to want to tear down to see what happened, just cause its unlocked doesn't make it runable. Rip it apart, inspect fix if you try runnin it may cost you 5x as much Quote
chads300 Posted April 2, 2013 Author Report Posted April 2, 2013 tore it apart and lower left rod bearing is shot as well as it will need a hone / new pistons Quote
trickedcarbine Posted April 2, 2013 Report Posted April 2, 2013 Looks like someone has done some decent work on those cylinders as well. Any idea who? 1 Quote
chads300 Posted April 3, 2013 Author Report Posted April 3, 2013 i was curious myself to be honest with you.also has v force reeds and the almighty boost bottle......needs a crank and i was considering buying a used one but i am skeptical. also need front shocks misc nuts and bolts and a wheelie bar as well as a top end which i may just buy a cylinder kit and send these babys down the road Quote
Zillaguy Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I have a good stock crank for sale, if your interested.. Quote
