robert0762 Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Picture one is how I have always seen the gear located once it is put on and when you torque it down it holds pressure on the waterpump drive gear also. Picture two . If you take notice the inner bearing race is even with the outer one pic three. On this crank the inner race is not even pic four. Since the inner race is not even the bearing slides closer to the web. I have never seen this. Has anyone else? The problem I have with this is that the gear sits back past the step on the crank. So now when I torque it down the water pump gear bottoms out on the step and does not apply pressure to the drive gear. The drive gear actually has a couple thousands of play to slide back and forth. I know that can not be good. So has anyone seen a bearing come like that ?(with a small inner race) The bearing is good . Can I put something in there to space it a lil bit? Should I put a new bearing?Will this cause alignment issues with the basket gear? Edited August 5, 2012 by robert0762 Quote

Even if I flipped it the inner race does not move and is still in the same position Quote
BigRed350x Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 Are you sure the inner race is pressed on with the out-side face actually outside? Measure how much of a shim you would need to get the PTO gear in the correct position. Use a bearing press and remove the inner bearing race. Make/Buy a shim that will give you enough space. Put the shim in, them press the inner bearing race back in place. Install your crank and check your thrust clearance on the crank once its in the cases and torqued down to ensure the crank webs do not contact the case. Also, ensure that your bearing outer race lines up correctly with the half-moon holding clip if it has it. -Jared Quote
