sheerider11 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 A piston ring was hanging out of the exhaust? Quote
Phelps Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 take a picture and post it. if there was a piece of piston ring missing and in the pipe, ya that would be the problem. Quote
421venom Posted January 5, 2012 Author Report Posted January 5, 2012 exhaust ring,i just noticed the exhaust is loose from the head Quote
sheerider11 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 So that little rubber o-ring that sits in the pipe? And no that one lower compression. And the thumb trick is very unreliable. Its nice to find what cylinder in on the compression stroke but that's it. And it'll tell you you have a hole in the piston. Get a gauge. It's a necessity, I think you can borrow them from auto zone. beez33 Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 You will need to get your head fixed if it has grooves and nicks in it. Quote

sheerider11 Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 how can i fix it? the head? or the jugs? if its the jugs, you have to bore it to the next size. as long as there mot gouges. as far as the head i dont know about repair, bbut you can ge a stock one from here for cheap. and you can get a milled one to up the compression a little to bump up a little power. Lets just say you used the old one after the bore, the gap is to big. The piston will basically flop around till it shatters. To tight is to tight. I think you can figure what happens. You can take them to a shop. They will do it and know what piston you need. If you have the money you can send them out to get ported. Check out hjr or F.A.S.T. I went to HJR and he bored it to the next size, and ported it. Sent me back everything new pistons, rings, and gaskets. If that's not in the budget, just get them bored out. Quote
