Jayce Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Are you supposed to still use the metal gasket with a cool head? Or does it just use the o rings? Quote
shakar Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Are you supposed to still use the metal gasket with a cool head? Or does it just use the o rings? just the orings. if u use both i believe your sqish will be to high. goodluck Quote
BigRed350x Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Don't use both, it will cause you more headaches & leaks than you want to deal with. Make sure you check your squish clearance before you take off riding. Depending on who you talk to good squish is between .035 and .055" I like mine around .048" If its too tight or too loose, change your base-gasket thickness. - Jared Quote
Jayce Posted November 3, 2011 Author Report Posted November 3, 2011 Thank you guys for the info! I have one more question, the cool head came with a brass piece that screws into the top of the head, what is it for? Overflow? And it seems to be tight before it appears to be all the way in, do I just leave it there? And does it just sit on top, like nothing connects to it? Sorry for all the questions, I really appreciate your guys' help tho! Quote
jbooker82 Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 A small hose that goes to the top of the radiator goes there. It keeps air from becoming traped in the back of the head since the motor doesnt sit straight. Quote
