Hello, just acquired a 2000 Banshee that is not running.

Compression test on the left side was 90 psi, the right side was 115.

When i kick start it, it sounds as if something is spinning, around the gas tank area. Is the crank gone?

No electrical power at all when i turn the key.

I removed the seat and saw two wires just dangling down, unattached, laying over the k&n filters. They plug into something, but what?

Both filters were pitch black.

I removed both plugs which were NGK R BR8EG.

From the rust on it, it seems like it has sat outside for the past year.

I don't think i got honest answers about the maintanance of my shee, as from the rust, it appears to have sat outside for the last year or two.

Do i attempt to take the whole motor out, as both the top and bottom need replacing?

Im not mechanical, but in looking at the set up, removal doesn't seem like rocket science, especially with all these youtube tutorial.

I have downloaded the owners manual but am looking foir youll's expert advice.

Usually anything under 107psi you'll need a new top-end. You don't get electricity just by turning on the key (doesn't have a battary, a stator) OEM pluggs are BR8ES.

Ahh, thank you.

All i checked for was the compression and to see if gas was getting to the carb.

Im going to see if i have spark next. Then throw in 2 new plugs if that's good.

Thanks for your help!

since you claim to be not so mechanical......where are you located.....maybe your close to another member on here that wouldn't mind stopping by your place and telling you what you got...

Also clean the filters if they are to blocked with dirt it won't run either.

Not mechanical at all. I read alot've the forums and watch the youtube tutorials oon Banshee's.

I'd hate to attempt to tear into the motor and it be something as simple as needing two new plugs.

I live in PG County Maryland.

You'll can call or text, or better yet come by if you are local.

With your compression that low you might not get it to start at all. Once mine dropped below 115 it was hell to start. Sounds to me like you need to bore hone get pistons and rings just for starters. Motor is easy has 4 bolts to pull but drain your fluids first. Best of luck

id put a top end on it.even if it runs its wore and could lead to disaster sooner than later.if u have more than 5 lbs. difference in cyls. its time.u have 25 lbs. difference.that spinning noise u hear might be your water pump bearing.might wanna replace that too,and get a billet impeller when ur in there.

Thanks for the tips fella's.

I found a guy on craiglist. He charges $60.00 to come pick up the bike, diagnosis it, and $60.00 to return it to me, $120.00 total.

If it's a minor problem, he said that he would take care of it, if it's something major he would let me know what my options could be, and we'd go from there.

I have 0 mechanical experience and instead of trying to tear into in (i still wouldn't know what im looking at, even if the problem was right in front of me) and loose pieces and just overal frustrate myself i rather him look into it.
