Mike_6r4 Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Hi folks, recently bought a Banshee. Runs great and has plenty of go but always want more!! Can anyone tell from the pictures what cylinders I have? Once I've removed the head and measured them will it be possible to bore them to take larger pistons to allow me to use a +4 crank and ger 420cc? Any advice appreciated. Mike Quote
Mike_6r4 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 I know boring has nothing to do with the +4. Just thinking if when i take the head off and measure if it's a standard bore can I take it out to whatever I size I need to make it a 420cc with a +4 crank? Quote
Mike_6r4 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 The only thing I know from the previous owner is it definately has a stock stroke hot rods crank. He thinks the bore may be whatever would make it a 375cc? So back to it if I do have a "cub" barrel could I bore it out from a stock or 375cc bore to make it a 420cc with a +4 crank? Quote
spurdy Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Typically you don't over bore to gain dispacement on a two stroke. The number of bores on your cylinders is the life of them (at least on the stock cylinders). Now, with a cub cylinder the sleeve is nickasil. And like previously said a 4 mil cub has a 68mm bore and is a 421 cub.If the one you have is a stock strike then it would be a 392 cub @ a 68mm bore. I bet there wouldn't even be enough material to increase the bore size to gain the amount of displacement your looking for. SP Quote
BUILDER Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 A boost bottle on a cub that is sweet Quote
lms1977 Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 You will need to take off the head and figure what the stroke is by measuring how far piston moves. Then you will know what you have. Good luck Quote
Pasi S. Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 It can be 64x54 CUB 65x54 CUB also http://www.cpindinc.com/pub/part_list?manufacturer=3 -Pasi S. Quote
coryv4 Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 on a cub couldnt you just measure the culinder hieght it self to no if its a 4 mil seeing how a stock cub and a 4 mill cub cylinders are casted differently? Quote
Jereme6655 Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 How about using a scotch brite pad on the piston crown.....if they are wiseco pistons shouldn't they be a 795 series piston (which I believe is actually a blaster piston) to offset the wrist pin location? Or am I mistaken and the 795 is to offset a 115 longrod? Quote
Jereme6655 Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Oh ya.....almost forgot.... GUNS have barrels. Banshees and big titted women have JUGS. Quote
4MiLLDraGSheE Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 If its a stock stroke then you would have to have work done to the port timeings to make it work right with a 4 mill though wouldnt u? Not to mention cut domes and such. Quote
camatv Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 so you bought a banshee and have no idear what the motor is and the previous owner who knows for sure its got a crank in it didnt even know to tell you its a cub. and i'm guessing that when you looked at the add or went to look at the bike the seller just said its fast.. he only knows ( or says) its a 375cc possibly.. hmmmm.. most banshee owners know exactilly whats in their motor and use that as a selling point.. does the motor and the frame still have VIN numbers on it. and thats the extra big boost bottle not the normal one.. Calm down mate! Here's the story. I moved from the UK to Australia a year ago. I brought my YFZ450 with me. I flew home to race in Germany and it was cheaper for me to buy another quad just to keep in the UK to race in Germany each year rather than ship it over and back every time. My mate has always ridden Banshees so for ease of spares etc buying a Banshee made sense. He heard this one was for sale and had raced against it and new it was reasonably quick. The chap who owned it has given up racing as his dad has died, he knows bugger all about engines, his dad did it all. I raced it this year in Germany and came 4th over 2 days racing. Ran sweet as. Just need more power now as my mate is 70lbs lighter than me!!! Quote
camatv Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 ok then,.. you just gotta realize. there is a LOT of stolen shit out there if you need more powa i'd look into some diff pipes and if its not done already get it ported.. if it is a 350cc there is some more powa to be fouond in there..
