BrockMoto Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 I have aquired a Banshee from a friend... It has some pretty serious motor issues so I will be sending it somewhere.. My question is since the bike sat for around 3 years... What else should need replacing? I assume the chain goes bad sitting... Ps all fluids in the motor will be replaced during the build and the carbs cleaned... Thanks for any input Quote
ECshee Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 you sure its all motor issues? check your stator, coil, carbs, and any moving parts. cables will need replacing im sure. Quote
CFH87 Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Does it have tor's? Their big ugly boxes on top of the carbs. Quote
BrockMoto Posted July 23, 2011 Author Report Posted July 23, 2011 Nope.. keihen pwk flat slides... And when he blew the motor it sat 3 yrs I have it now riped it open... Cranks bad .. Needs bored... etc etc... Just don't want to miss something stupid that came up because of it's extensive sitting period Quote
Dicklez Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Def pull the carbs apart. The old fuel gotta get cleaned out. Quote
06specialedition Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Sounds like it needs some work. Let the complete tear down begin! Quote
Jereme6655 Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 the chain wont go bad.....replace all the fluids....INCLUDING THE FUEL. clean those carbs good. then check the entire bike over......last thing you want to do is fire it up and take a hard run on it and realize your buddy pulled the brake pads off to change em 3 years ago. Just use common sense about looking at your bike and reassembling your motor. ALSO make sure you do a leak down test BEFORE you fire the motor up. i usually do them after i finish the assembly while its still out of the frame. Quote
AKheathen Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 also, check any electrical contacts, like killswitch, connectors, etc..... they can corrode over time. bearings and brakes, and not much else that hasn't been mentioned.. Quote
Burt Reynolds Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Check your intake boots for cracks. Quote
