Super Hick Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 Hello I have a 2002 Yamaha Banshee thats stock bore with a aftermarket crank. I just bought the quad rode it for a week, and now it wont start. I have tried bump starting it and it fires up. but it acts like it wont "light". Heres what I think is the problem, The shop told me to run Klotz red 2 stroke oil in it. When I asked what ratio I should mix it at they told me 50:1 and " I should be fine". Well after doing some research and calling some Quad preformance shops everyone says they run 32:1. WOuld it be possible in the week that i ran it at 50:1 that i burned up the piston.? When it is running it seems like it is struggling to turn. Thanks. All the help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Quote
toytech Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 (edited) I run amsoil at 50 to 1 with no problems . just maybe time for a new top end. do a compression test. welcome to bhq Edited July 23, 2011 by toytech Quote
Dicklez Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 I always ran 32:1 with the Klotz. Thats the norm i guess. Your giving plenty of lubrication. But Everybody has there way of running there fuel. I barley burn up plugs. Like toytech said do a compression check. Welcome to BHQ. Quote

06specialedition Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 I've ALWAYS ran Klotz R50 at 40:1 with no issues at all, it is great oil. Few things to check: Compression Plugs Choke Tube Also, what is the jetting? If it is too lean you could have caused some issues. Quote
