Wicked ATV Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 OK, so Ive just bought a used set of 34mm PJs , and Im not sure where to start on the jetting. Obviously they dont have the stock jets in them, as they have come from Utah, my mods are listed, as is my elevation, can you help me out? I didn't see the Elevation. My Suggestion not knowing who ported it or how porting was done I'd suggest start with this 162-165M 60Pilot or 62 I know it's cold up there.Cel Needle clip 2nd from Bottom. A/S 1- to 1-1/2 out maybe just feel it out. Good safe starting point. Oh and the Choke is your idle Give them about 7-1/2 to 8- turns out. Mark them with a white out or something so you can keep track of how many turns. Do some Plug checks and you should be fine. Have fun and enjoy and get back to us on here and let us know. Quote
sleeper06 Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Its cold but 60 sounds high, wicked is rite with the mains 162 is safe to start ,i thought 52 area on pilot cel 4th clip Quote
midlifecrisis Posted December 25, 2010 Author Report Posted December 25, 2010 Fair enough, but whats the CEL? Is it a needle manufacturer? What will come in the carbs, and why isnt it a good choice? Do the main jet sizes come in increments of .5? My elevation is around 200' ASL. I have a set of jets for my stock carbs, complete set. Will the jets for the new carbs come the same way? Quote
Darthwall Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 look on chaperell or other sites CEL needles are what im running on 34 pj's on 3rd clip 155 main 50 pilot im at 1000ft so not far off start rich and work down good lck Quote
sleeper06 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Jets are not the same youll need a long hex jet and keihin pilots, cel are the type of needle, take the needle out when you get your new carbs and check the lettering on top, most people that run them have changed to them allready so it might have them allready Quote
252wheelieking Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 I have almost the same set-up as you & it's 30 degrees right now. At night its gets down to like 18 or 19 degrees. I am at sea level (60ft above) & I run a 170 mains & 52 pilots just for the winter. In the summer I run a 50 pilots & a 160 mains. Quote
midlifecrisis Posted December 27, 2010 Author Report Posted December 27, 2010 OK, so Ive taken the carbs apart, and 06 youre right, they have been changed over to CEL needles, but there are no clips on them ( I guess they were overlooked when sold to me), and they presently have 162 mains, and a 50 pilot in them. Is this a close enough setup to try, or should the pilot be slightly higher? Does anyone have a spare set of clips they dont need, or can I use the ones off a spare set of mikunis?? Quote
