Bruce_Blaine Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Hey guys, my banshee hasn't been acting right lately. At first we thought the coil went bad on it, so I bought a new one and put on it. Same problem. At WOT in any gear, it misses and sputters. And it's running hot really quick. Compression was 120 in both sides. My left plug is way lean compared to my right. What's the deal? It's a 2001 and has T5's, VF3's, K&N no lid, and the infamous boost bottle (came with it, going to get a stock crossover soon). Thanks for any help. Quote
superswire Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 youre carbs are syced and you have no air leaks ??? Quote
06specialedition Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 sounds like jetting, check for air leak. X2 on that. Maybe that boost bottle cracked your intakes...check air leaks first. If not an air leak, then I would bump your mains up a few sizes and work your way from there. Quote
banshee67 Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 intake boots i think would cause you too lean out and would make sense. check the bottle it self. the cable will rub on the bottle and since the bottle is cheap aluminum, the cables will rub a whole in it. Quote
Bruce_Blaine Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 Okay so today I looked over carb boots, intake and reeds and what not. Nothing appeared to be cracked but I did replace the gasket on the left side since it did appear to have shit leaking out of it. Put it all back together and still isn't running right. I kept it WOT sounds like it's loaded up really bad brought it back changed plugs and it seemed to run ALOT better than it did, but i still noticed a small miss in it. Let it cool off again for about 30 minutes took another ride on it and it's acting up and missing terribly. WTFF?? Quote
Larry's Shee Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 You need to address the heat problem. Have you cleaned the carbs lately? What jets do you have in it? Are both mians the same? Crazier things have happened. Check that the slide cap gasket is good. Quote
2jugrider Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Could you have a bad elec. connection? Is the pickup at the stator gapped properly. Try to slowly eliminate if it's fuel or elec. The fuel line could be old, leaking, sucking air at carb fittings, etc... Quote
