am i supposed to use gasket sealer on my cylinder and head gaskets?

Not if they are genuine Yamaha gaskets. If the base gaskets have the silicone bead on them, they dont need sealer. Most head gaskets don't need sealer on them and if you have a Cool Head with O rings you should put some Vaseline or grease on them to keep them in place during assembly.

yah, the head gaskets should be installed clean-dry, but i have seen some use that coper tack spray on there fine, but don't use anything else.
