WantABanshee Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I have a dome off of my powerhead that took some damage when the thing blew up. It's not horribly beat up but pitted pretty good.. I'm considering sanding it out and running it. All that touches the dome is a compressed air/fuel so it should be a big deal should it? What do you guys think about it? Quote
Sandfrk33 Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 You be OK to smooth out as long as you don't take too much material off. Gouges can cause hot spots Quote
firebanshee Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I have smoothed them out when i had no other choice and ran it, but you do not want to round of any sharp edges, the shape of the dome is VERY important, and the clearances for your squish band. Quote
bebetekbanshee358 Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 u actually want to round out sharp edges.. dude a set of domes r like 50 bucks..... get some 20cc domes and have fun. when u grind a dome u taking all its geometry out and throwing it away.. sharp edges will cause a hopt spot and detonation and that kills motors..... just get some domes. i wouldnt risk it in a high dollar setup....gotta pay to play Quote
