Whats up guys? As you can see I'm new here so yes, I'll be asking some pretty simple and stupid questions in your all's eye's cause this is my first banshee. I've never owned a 2stroke atv before just thumpers so this is a whole new world too me. I bought a 02' with a broke crank and have no idea where to even begin on which parts to buy, what type of porting or anything engine related to do too it . All I know is since i have to tear it all down there's no sense in putting it back stock, so hopefully I can get some pointers here to get me started.

welcome to HQ

i would seriously consider sending the whole motor off to a builder of your choice to have the work done, especially since youre not familiar with them. you can get it torn down, porting, put together.. the whole works. just depends on what you wanna spend.

i recommend any of the site sponsors for motor work..

Thanks. As soon as I can figure out the advantage's of a 4mil. crank verse's a welded/trued stock crank along with figure'n out the difference's between reed cages with built-in crossovers and ones that use a boost bottle and two carbs verse's a two into one set-up along with about a hundred other things maybe I can get this thing together and see if their as mean as everyone say's they are. There's way too many option's performance wise for these things.....Make's my head hurt thinking bout then all.

thats the great thing about a builder, he will have the headache for you.

honestly, it all depends on how much you wanna spend. i would first figure out a budget and we can help you figure out your mods. its not as complicated as you think.. its just overwhelming for someone new to banshees.

Well I believe I can do all the work myself other then the porting., I've completely tore down and rebuilt many a 4stroke so there's no worry's there. I've got 1500 to play with but it'd be nice to be able to keep a little bit of that in my pocket. I ride mostly with 450's-660 4strokes and would like to be able to keep up with them the best I can. As it sits right now I'm already ahead of the game alittle, The bike came with elka shocks, new holeshots, and fmf pipes and suppose to be be bored 40 over and said only had about 20gal.s fuel burned on the new pistons.

sounds like you got a good setup, just need a good reliable motor..

for 1500 you should be able to get some cylinders ported, a head, pistons and a new 4mm crank.. thats what id concentrate on first..

then if you have some money left over you can probably find some used carbs, intakes, and reeds..

id start pricing the porting, head, pistons and crank from a builder and see where you are.

rebuilding them is easy man. I just went through it myself and was in the same boat you are in now (first 2 stroke bike). Mine also had a bad crank. I bought a stock crank on ebay for like 100 bucks and threw new bearings on it and put it back together. New bore and Vito's pistons. Banshee's are awesome bikes man. Talk to Jeff from F.A.S.T. racing. He is a good guy and will def. help you out.
