VegasJeff Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Time to tear into the clutch side of the motor and see if everything is where its suppose to be and if there is any carnage. Quote

Check the shift shaft for wear- the hook should not have very much side play or wobble in it. Then check the adjustment of the shift shaft hooks relative to the shift star- both upper and lower hooks should be equal distance from the pins on the star. If they are not equal, adjust the eccentric. Good luck. Quote
dragbanshee22 Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 ok i took the cover off pulled the clutch and the hook that grabs the shift star thing only grabs evry few times trying to shift it. could the spring be the problem? it all lines up good just wont grab Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 sounds to me that shifter has been abused and is wore out now. I would check for play in the shift drum and the shift shaft and if there is no excessive play I would say you need a new shift shaft. Quote
