Alex29573 Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 hey everyone i was wondering if anyone here knows the squish on these cool heads? do they run different squish numbers for different domes? Im looking into 21 or 22 cc domes... Also, when doing a compression test should i add 5 psi to what ever the gauge reads? I was told to do this because the compression tester doesnt thread into the combustion chamber as far in as the spark plug does.. So if my gauge reads 160 psi its really 165 psi when the spark plug is put on because of the volume it takes up (making the combustion chamber a couple of cc less. Quote
spurdy Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 (edited) anyone?? The squish clearance comes from the squish band which can be cut at different angles depending on the dome. Some builders have their own angles they like the squish band cut to. This shouldn't effect the volume of the dome very much. So your squish clearance would depend on the specs of the dome. I am sure that if you arder a dome from NOSS that Dave has a standard cut unless the person ordering specifies something different. As far as your compression check, I would just get the correct end for the tester. Otherwise your just guessing. SP Edited September 3, 2009 by spurdy Quote
mopar1rules Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) on the 19cc and 21cc pro-design domes that i seen my buddy use, gave squish clearances of .050", w/wiseco/cometic base gaskets. Edited September 4, 2009 by mopar1rules Quote

dlnoss Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 The 'standard' cut domes I make should have .035" to .040" clearance with the standard base gasket. -David Quote
