ELKARACING_SHEE Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 allright, i still dont get what that is or what it does, so what does an Mx/ trail porting do?? What does it include when i do a porting? ( like cool head different cylinders or what?? ) and does anyone have an idea how much it costs??? i mean doesnt have to be exactly the price, just to get an idea Quote
Drewski Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 well to tell you the god honest truth your not ready for any porting judging your last vids you posted i would start with a coolhead and advanced timing at the very most Quote
dalegoldston Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Unless you already have the best in suspension, do not consider a port job as yet. In MX handling is the first most important. So cheaper mods, cool head, two-into-one pipe for what low end you can get. If you cant rail the corners and fly the whoops then a faster motor is no help. Quote
Snopczynski Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 a 2 into 1 pipe will not give him low end. Quote
dalegoldston Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 a 2 into 1 pipe will not give him low end. So what does the 2 to 1 do if not low end. Quote
Snopczynski Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 It sort of (and I use that term loosely)gives you midrange power. Low-mid pipes are pro circuits, pt mids, fmf gnarley. Quote
ELKARACING_SHEE Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 can you guys tell me what it is at least, so i know in the future??, cause im just asking cause i want to know, not that i can say yeah im ready for a port job Quote
Building my First Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 He has over 70 posts and I thought he used to use a different name, he says he doesn't know what porting is. Do you bother reading any of these threads you post in? Quote
x_doug_x Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 He has over 70 posts and I thought he used to use a different name, he says he doesn't know what porting is. Do you bother reading any of these threads you post in? he likes to waste peoples time, thats for sure. i stuck up for him in another thread, he opened my for sale thread and pm'd me prob. 10 emails on a box of jets i had for sale, for him the price was a bit expensive cause he wanted them shipped to canada. but i told him price up front, he kept pming me wanting to know if the jets were in pairs, "what jets were in the kit" even though the picture showed i went through the kit and typed every jet size to him, he said he was on vacation and he would buy it, asked for my paypal, still no deposit. and no more pm's, i think he just wanted to waste my time. dalegoldston Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Port work=internal work done to the cylinders to increase power in a variety of power curves. Sure the Banshee gods will correct this. Snop, hard to believe a dual pipe would deliver more usable low range power than a single pipe. Still to my original, Handling/rider ability is what makes a good MX racer not power. Especially if you are a novice Quote
Snopczynski Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Snop, hard to believe a dual pipe would deliver more usable low range power than a single pipe. Believe it. I got dyno sheets to prove it, and feedback from people as well as myself who have ridden my bike with the two different setups on it. Quote
bansheebarnes Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 porting is changing the timing of the intake/exhaust. its similar to putting a "hotcam" in a 4 stroke. Quote
