TexasBansheeMan Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Why b/c its wood? WTF you think ALL boats/Ships were made of way back when? Hell wooded boats still come off the production line today. A little epoxy some silicone, few screw I bet she is water ready. Noe I would not take it out and blast the bay with a 10hp on it. For what he wants its a good boat. :geek: The mayflower, The Nina, the Pint and the Santa maria were all wood, and they used lard/tar/rope to seal it up, hummm :geek: Quote
2001Stroker Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Large custom yachts are still made out of wood today. They're just covered in fibergalss and gelcoat. It's heavy, but way stronger than just fiberglass. There ain't nothing wrong with that little wooden john boat. That would be perfect in some of the little tributaries around here. Quote
R. Rollins Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Hell no its not sturdy. It needs a shitload of reinforcing all over it. It needs a coating of some type on it as well. He is lucky to get 50 bucks for the lumber he has into it. Quote
2001Stroker Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 This boat has a wooden hull, weighs 135,000lbs., and has 2, 2400hp MTU diesels. When I strike it rich, that's gonna be my new fishing boat. The only thing I'd have to add to it is, a tuna tower and outriggers. Viking Yachts 74' Enclosed Bridge Quote
