Hey could you guys give me your opinion on this.

I originally started out with a fully modded 2000 blaster and after a year or so was ready to move up in size. I bought a 2004 Kawasaki KFX 400 for $2,500. Mods include slip on pipe, jetted, plus 2 axle, nerf with heel guards. This quad is really clean and i think i did pretty well on the price. After riding it for a couple months i miss the 2-stroke kick in the a@% when it hits the powerband and was thinking about trading for a Banshee. I found a 1996 with 40 over bore weisco piston and rings, new case halfs as the others were broken, hot rods crank, cool heads with 19cc domes, barnett racing clutch with stiff springs, 2300 watt rickey stator, fmf powercore 2 silencers and FKF gnarly pipes, trinity 2 in to 1 carb kit and intake, v force delta 3 reeds and valve, K&N filter, newer plastics, bars, nerf bars, coil, cdi box. He is willing to do a straight across trade and the banshee runs great. I took it out for about a 1/2 hour to test it out and was very happy with how it ran. I just don't know if i am getting screwed in this deal or not. What is your opinion?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Welcome the BHQ!!

Sounds like a good trade to me, If it was me i would do it. Just check out the frame for bends or cracks, also check the filter, oil all that kinda stuff to see if he took care of it. Do you mean FMF pipes and a 200 watt stator?

Yeah just got to typing too fast. Yeah it has been really well taken care of since he got it you can tell. The guy before him didn't take care of it as well hence the cracked and busted case halves but all of that has been fixed. Based on my test ride this is by far the fastest quad i've ever been on. Plus it comes with a bunch of extra parts. Appreciate the info.

Thats a tough one. You can never trust someone when they say what is internally done to a bike. Do you have any pics. Cuz pics can say a thousand words, and some guys on here can pick it apart just from a couple pics. Post your bike and the other bike.

Seems like a good deal to me. Only thing id worry about is the bottom end. You cant check that out unless you tear into it. But you can get a used crank for cheap here so that isnt a big deal imo. New seals are cheap too. I would do it. Also for 19cc domes, id do a compression check. You might not be able to run pump gas but that depends on other factors.

Yeah, that's pretty damn clean. People that take care of their stuff usually shows through when you look at it.

Look for what bikes similar to yours go for in local papers and craigslist, and do the same for his...

If the value is pretty close, go for it. You gotta remember, each market is different.

That banshee might fetch 1500 here in MI (just an example) but might fetch 3K over in Cali...

I would definately go for it especially if you already drove it around and are happy with the way it works. It looks like a very clean bike. Ive got nothing against four strokes but I just find them somewhat boring to drive compared to a two stroke, especially a banshee.
