skinindustries Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Ok finally got my banshee running and took it on its first ride and i cant downshift. It up shifts fine but there is alot of play in the shifter. The only way i can downshift is if i turn the bike off get off and rock it back and forth then it will down shift. locogato11283 Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 you shifter has an adjustment next to the shift star. its possible yours is way off causing it to shift up fine, but not down. Quote

Ok i will check it out tomorrow and see what's up. will this also tighten up the play in my shift lever?cuz it is bad. Quote

87sheerips Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 no, just have to pull the clutch cover. if you tip it up on its side you can even spare the oil. Yep, I had to do this in the sand dunes once.. Bike all of the sudden locked into gear, and wouldnt shift. What happened was my shift shaft popped out, and the star would not engage properly. Check your shift shaft to make sure its pushed all the way in towards the stator side. If your clutch cover is severly worn in that area, it might not provide ample pressure to keep your shift shaft in place! all I did was push the shaft back in, and I havent had the problem since. I think this can be a fluke issue at times, maybe if your jammin gears! Quote
dragbanshee Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Like Loco said, prolly needs adjusted, might even think about a modified shiftshaft from FAST or if yours is ok someone here could explain to you how to modify it. Once you get it apart and looking at it while shifting, hopefully you can see the problem externally. Quote

Last photo show the lock washer and adjustment slot needed tp adjust it. The hooks should be evenly spaced to the pins on the star when in neutral. Quote
drap660 Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) I would deff agree with the modded shift shaft from fast. My bike either upshifted fine but down shifted terrible, or downshifted fine and missed gears going up. Put in Jeff modded shaft and teh gears go in and out lik ebutter just like he advertises. i have about 3g's of work on my shee and that was my best mod believe it or not. I also have a dual bearing shift cam and new forks. Thing feels like an overide. hahah Here is what the shift shaft adjustment should like.
