petie11o5 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Hey Everyone, My name is Pete and I'm new to this site, looks like a great place to get some information. However I do have a few questions hopefully you can help me out. I just purchased some new, stock Mikuni banshee carbs and the slide is sticking in the carburator.I should mention all the electrical junk on top of them got taken off. The slide only goes about 2/3 the way down in the actual carb and wont go to the bottom. Anyone have any advice on how to get this to stop? Also maybe someone can point me in the right direction on about where my Main Jet, Pilot Jets and Needle settings can be. Elevation where I live is about 900 ft. above sea level, and the banshee has FMF Gnarlys, trinity port, trinity stage IV cool head, K&N air filter without the lid, boost bottle, weisco pistons, 4 mil. crank and like I said in the above post, stock mikuni carbs with all the electrical junk taken off the top. I know you probably are tired of posts like this but I would love to get the Banshee running good for my dad and blow his mind so any advice/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Pete Quote
shee4speed Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 welcome to the site Pete. Are your slides in the right way?Needles aren't bent are they? Are they drilled for idle screws? Check those. I would start at 360 mains and work down from there.I would think stock pilots would work fine. Quote
petie11o5 Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 Yes the slides are in right and needles are staright. The slides are still sticking though. And the carbs do have idle screws. shee4speed Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 hows your throttle cable? Is it adjusted properly? You can check that out also.By sticking, does the slides stick on the way down and then go down if you tap them? Or do they just bottom 3/4 of the way down and thats it? Quote
petie11o5 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 They are sticking about 3/4 the way down. I think it may be the throttle cable so I'm going to check that out also. Thanks for the ideas. Do you think there is a possibility they are just new so they are sticking because something is catching? hows your throttle cable? Is it adjusted properly?
