I've got a question about the little coolant nipple on the back of the head. What is it's purpose, is it a vent line that recirculates it back into the radiator or what? the reason i ask is because were putting a banshee motor in a 250r and the 250r radiator doesn't have a nipple on the radiator for this hose. ? Can the nipple just be blocked off or tied into the other head hose? or would a nipple need to be put in the radiator. any help with this little bridge would be greatly appreciated because its got me stumped.

i would put a nipple on the radiator if it were me.. it is there to take air pockets out of the head, they way the motor sits in the frame there is a high spot on that side of the motor, making it very likely to get air pockets trapped in the head.. could creat BIG problems.. take the time to set the bike up the right way.. you will thank yourself later

It is to bleed the air out of the coolant in the head. The only way to get around it is, take the nipple out and replace it with a pet-cock. Know what I'm talking about? They are on alot of radiators to drain them. They're even on the bottom of air compressor tanks to drain the water out. Whenever you drain the coolant, use it to bleed the air out of the system. Leave the radiator cap off, and keep refilling the radiator until you're done.
